What is Emotional Freedom Technique?

Negative emotions are everywhere. For many, these negative emotions are too much to handle. For some, the negative emotions cause people to feel sad an unhappy. To others, these emotions can make them feel angry and upset. Others may wind up feeling anxious and worried because of their negative emotions which can manifest into a fear of driving. No matter the style, negative emotions can make someone’s life harder to deal with. Many people will go through therapy and other forms of medicine to get rid of these negative emotions.

Some people will spend hours with therapists per week just to attempt to figure out why there are having negative emotions. This is an attempt to find the source of the negative energy so that they may stop having these problems. Other people will turn to medicine in the form of pills. These pills aim to help those who may be sad, upset, or anxious, as it attempts to fix their negative emotions. For some, both of these types of help will not do enough.

The Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as EFT, is a way for many people to work with their bad and negative energy. EFT believes that the negative emotions that people feel are directly caused by the body’s energy field. They feel that disturbances around the body’s energy field cause an off balanced effect that can cause the negative emotions.

At its base, the idea is that depressions, stress, fears, and anxieties can all be fixed by tapping the “meridians” of the body. These “meridians” come from Chinese medicine. Anywhere from 12 to 15 of these spots can be “tapped” in an effort to fix the body energy of the person who is suffering from the issues. The exercise is supposed to release the negative body energy so that they body can return to the normal balance that it needs.

Emotional Freedom Technique is a somewhat newer technique. The technique was created in the mid 1990’s and then went through testing procedures. While many think that this form of therapy works more with distraction that they actual “changing” of the body energy. They feel that the simple idea of “tapping” the spots can help people to be distracted from their problems as they simply expect them to go away, or to feel better than usual.

For many people, the idea of emotional freedom technique use for getting rid of phobias such as the fear of driving is too much. They feel as if they will not be able to rely on these techniques to help them with their issues. Many of these people will have tried a few things to get rid of these issues and have not had any success. Have I seen it work?  Honeslty, no.  Is it something I prescribe or beleive in?  Again, no.  But the power of belief is very strong and if EFT is something you trust and have had success with, by all means, keep it up!
